From Sean Connery to Roger Moore to Daniel Craig, the 007 series has persevered over the decades dazzling us with femme fatales, deadly gadgets, and the sexiest cars ever to grace the silver screen; but did you know that someone beat Connery to the punch by nearly a decade? An American no less?!

This week on Required Viewing, we begin our monthly look at the James Bond film series with 1954’s live TV special, CASINO ROYALE, starring Barry Nelson, Peter Lorre, and Linda Christian. Does it live up to the Bond legacy or is it a mere curio piece for only the most devoted fans?
