THE EVIL DEAD (1981) Movie Review

For the month of October, we’re looking at five horror and Halloween classics to determine if they are Required Viewing.

This week, we’re taking a trip within the woods with Sam Raimi’s directorial debut, the classic cult hit THE EVIL DEAD. When five young people visit a lone cabin in the woods for a weekend getaway, they discover the Necronomicon Ex Mortes, roughly translated as the Book of the Dead. When its blood inked passages are recited by a tape recorder translation, they are soon attacked by demonic spirits before they each begin to succumb one-by-one to grotesque possession.
