THE WIZARD OF OZ (1939) – A New Old Movie? 80th Anniversary Review

What can be said about 1939’s THE WIZARD OF OZ that hasn’t already been said in the last 80 years? From Judy Garland’s breathtaking rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” to it’s dazzling colors and daring character work, the film remains a wonder to behold. To question whether or not it’s Required Viewing almost seems superfluous in nature – but is it a perfect film (or at least as close to perfect as one could imagine)?
